Introducing the Sporasub Oyster Weight – An original invention by two great minds in the spearfishing industry, Jordan Hamilton and Mark Laboccetta, makes weight adjustments practical and simple. The cost is in line with traditional lead weight owing to its one piece molded design. Oyster Weight – Your diving just got easier.
The dive weight; the simplest yet essential piece of diving equipment has been overlooked for too long.
Dive weights intended originally for Scuba Diving are not ideal for Freedivers but they have had to make do. Why?
When divers change dive sites and diving depth or change wetsuit thickness simple adjustments to the weight have to be made each time.
How many times have you to swim back to the boat or shore to reconfigure your weight belt, slide off your accessories and weights and put them back on?
Current removable weight designs are expensive and cost as much as five times the cost of traditional lead per pound.
The Oyster weight is a one piece 2.5lb lead weight designed to slip on the diver’s belt. This clever design (Patent Pending #6173749) of the Oyster weight allows the diver to slide the weight on the belt easily and remove it by turning it clockwise or counter clockwise. The lower lip of the weight and internal design keeps it securely fastened on most commercially available rubber and Cordura weight belts, even when upside down, but it’s easily removed by rotating the weight at a 45 degree angle at which time it comes off easily.
